Dentures and Partial Dentures
At Premier Dental Care, our goal is to help you keep all of your teeth, for all of your life. But for some people, that’s not possible, in which case dentures and partial dentures can offer an affordable solution. There are two types of dentures are that are available — complete (full) dentures and partial dentures.
The complete (full) dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while the partial dentures are used when some natural teeth are available. A conventional, full-denture is made and placed in the patient’s mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and the gum tissues have healed. An immediate, complete denture is inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed.
It is not unusual to experience minor irritation or soreness when you first receive any dentures. Although uncomfortable, it is the best way to identify those dentures that may need adjustment. After our Colorado Springs dentists make the proper adjustments, you will then be able to take them out at night clean them with the proper solution, and then put them back on in the morning.
We can fabricate full dentures for your upper and/or lower jaw, which look natural and function well. Thanks to advanced materials, today’s dentures are a vast improvement over the options that were available in previous decades.
Partial dentures can be used to replace missing teeth, and dental implants can be used to anchor partial dentures for a more durable, comfortable fit.
Are there Alternatives to Dentures?
Yes, dental implants can be used to support permanently cemented bridges, eliminating the need for a denture. The dental implants and bridges more closely resemble the feel of real teeth. Dental implants are becoming the most popular alternative to dentures.
At our dental office, we also can sometimes repair dentures, depending on the damage or wear and tear that’s involved.
